A Cost-effective Mass Timber Solution
The Kind Project, in West Sacramento, consists of two new 3-story apartment buildings at the intersection of F and 4th street. The complex is comprised of 148 studio dwelling units and seven service units. These studio units are ‘attainable by design’ built as a market-rate project. This is an all-electric, solar-ready project. All units have 12’-0” high, cross-laminated-timber, ceiling and 122 units have a mezzanine for storage. Units range between 277 to 367 S.F.
Kalesnikoff provided the cross-laminated timber (CLT) for this attainable housing project. All units have 12’-0” high, cross-laminated-timber, ceiling and 122 units have a mezzanine for storage. Units range between 277 to 367 S.F. The CLT also increased unit height (eliminating the need for ceiling joists) and significantly expedited the construction schedule. The entire structural framing was installed by the project team within four months.
