Kalesnikoff is located between Nelson and Castlegar, BC, in the fertile West Kootenay Wet-Belt. We are located about nine miles north of Castlegar, and 15 miles south of Nelson, in Thrums, BC. Our site is about halfway between Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver, BC on Highway 3A and strategically located near the USA/Canada border.
Abundant in wildlife, lakes, and forests the Kootenay mountains are home to some of the most beautiful wilderness and productive forest zones in the world. Douglas Fir, Western Larch, Western Hemlock, Engelmann Spruce, Lodgepole Pine, Western White Pine, Western red cedar, Grand Fir and Sub-alpine Fir are common. The great diversity of tree species allows for a wide range of silvicultural systems and has buffered this zone from extensive insect and disease outbreaks. These conditions create an exceptional environment for premium wood fibers.
With the backcountry in our backyard, we don’t just consider ourselves wood experts on the job – we live and play amongst the trees and mountains of this region and believe that it is more than a place to call home – it is a lifestyle.
