Our Team of Passionate Wood Experts

Since 1939, the Kalesnikoff family company has grown a legacy of trust and integrity. Inspired by forests, our wood experts have evolved through four generations of specialty timber manufacturing experience.

Why Kalesnikoff?

As North America’s most advanced, vertically integrated, multi-species mass timber manufacturer, Kalesnikoff offers a high degree of flexibility in products and services

The unique slow growth environment of our forests, in Canada’s beautiful West Kootenay mountains, allow us to harvest some of the highest quality fine-grained fibre in the world.

By leveraging our production facilities with our integrated timber supply, we’re able to manage products, reduce waste, and optimize value in our natural resources.  All the way from seedlings to solutions. Our Team’s flexibility and creativity permits us to offer a variety of products in both custom and standard sizes.

Kalesnikoff is committed to growing relationships with customers, building a responsible future for North America, and caring for our community and the land in which we operate.

Seedlings to Solutions

We are inspired by forests and the endless possibilities of designing and building with wood. From planting to harvesting and final construction it’s our passion for an integrated approach that drives us to make the best use of every log we touch.

Our Home in the Kootenays

Kalesnikoff is located between Nelson and Castlegar, BC, in the fertile West Kootenay Wet-Belt. We are located about nine miles north of Castlegar, and 15 miles south of Nelson, in Thrums, BC. Our site is about halfway between Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver, BC on Highway 3A and strategically located near the USA/Canada border.

Abundant in wildlife, lakes, and forests the Kootenay mountains are home to some of the most beautiful wilderness and productive forest zones in the world. Douglas Fir, Western Larch, Western Hemlock, Engelmann Spruce, Lodgepole Pine, Western White Pine, Western red cedar, Grand Fir and Sub-alpine Fir are common. The great diversity of tree species allows for a wide range of silvicultural systems and has buffered this zone from extensive insect and disease outbreaks. These conditions create an exceptional environment for premium wood fibers.

With the backcountry in our backyard, we don’t just consider ourselves wood experts on the job – we live and play amongst the trees and mountains of this region and believe that it is more than a place to call home – it is a lifestyle.

Our Culture & Values

Kalesnikoff is a family business. We steward relationships and resources by valuing people first, and never compromising on integrity. Whether through our community work or dependability in the marketplace, we are service company that manufactures world class wood products.
