The Joinery is a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use, development located along Charlotte’s light rail corridor, offering its residents a sophisticated living experience with modern technological amenities, and a strong commitment to sustainability. The Joinery is a 5 over 2 hybrid timber structure located in Charlotte, North Carolina’s Mill District. It is situated a block away from Parkwood Station on Charlotte’s Lynx Blue Line light rail, providing a low-carbon, transit-oriented development. The project was developed by Space Craft a Charlotte-based housing development firm.
Spanning over 350,000 square feet, The Joinery Phase Two consists of two, seven-story mixed-use buildings built of mass timber with a total of 360 apartments, and 1,500 square feet of retail space. Each building consists of two levels of concrete podium, and five stories of a hybrid CLT / prefabricated structural system with Timberlab. Kalesnikoff supplied over 700 individual cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels spanning up to 60′ lengths to make up the top four floors.
