The Annex is an affordable housing complex comprised of 27 housing units and two ground floor flex spaces, located in Portland, Oregon. The proposed building is five stories – four full floors and a tuck-under ‘basement’ that takes advantage of the natural north-to-south slope of the site. The unit types include 18 studios, seven one-bedrooms, and two two-bedrooms. The building has communal amenities such as a laundry room, a storage room, a designated trash room, a decontamination room, an elevator, as well as a community room. The outdoor space includes an interior shared courtyard. Kalesnikoff supplied the cross-laminated timber (SPF), and glulam (DFL) for this affordable mass timber housing development.
