Mass Timber from Floor to Ceiling
Place Maillardville Community Center is a state-of-the-art 2,000 square foot cultural centre built to replace the aging community centre that no longer met the needs of the community. The new facility completed in 2022 maintains its historic connection to Laval Square, as well as incorporating timber seating elements to reference the milling and logging history of the neighbourhood. A lush garden reflects the rich cultural history of the community, that will be well served by this revitalized public space that will serve the community for years to come.
Kalesnikoff supplied the DFL Glulam beams as well as Cross-laminated timber panel walls and roofing. The building features exposed mass timber with our DFL glulam beams and SPF CLT throughout. The gymnasium is a mass timber focal point as the entire room – from the floors to the walls to the ceilings – is comprised of mass timber.
